My beagle seems to be suffering from seperation anxiety. I leave him in the house all day while I'm at work. He gets into trash and spreads it all over. He loves to chew up kleenex boxes or anything cardboard. I try to put everything out of his reach, but am getting tired of always having to do this. He is a rescue dog and is around 3 years old. This problem has been getting worse as time goes on. I've had him about 9 months. He is a perfect dog when I'm around, but gets into all kinds of trouble when I'm gone. He has plenty of toys. I have even tried the toy that you stuff treats into. He loves that but it is not enough to satisfy him. Any suggestions??

Beagles are pack dogs. They love to be around people and cannot be left alone for a long period of time, because they will suffer separation anxiety, which can become destructive. Maybe you can hire a dogsitter while you're at work to keep him company.
Hope this answers your question! SundaeOwner :) |
