If you're getting a beagle puppy, I suggest first checking shelters as Beagles are amoung the top shelter breeds. If you don't want a shelter dog make sure you are buying a puppy from a reputable breeder who isn't a backyard breeder or a puppy mill.

I agree with the above post puppy mills are a horrible blemish that falls on this breed you would be amazed how many large pet stores are supplied by them.

I would also add consider what your buying before you do and do some research on it's bloodline if your wanting a pet to keep indoors I would not suggest buying one from a field trialing background as they are generally bred for endurance and high energy and usually don't do well indoors for very long periods of time.
